What if we told you that you will never dig up your landscaping again for a septic tank service?!
While new septic systems often include septic tank risers, many older systems lack this important feature.
Septic tank risers make accessing your septic tank much easier and more cost-effective by extending the access point to ground level or just below. This upgrade eliminates the need for expensive labor to dig up your yard for each maintenance or pumping service. Incorporating septic tank risers before beginning any major landscaping projects can save your yard from unnecessary disruption. Instead of navigating through grass, stones, or pavers, maintenance becomes as simple as removing a few lids.
Septic tank risers are designed with safety and durability in mind. They come equipped with specialized square drive screws to prevent unauthorized access, while the lids—made from durable poly-HDPE material—offer the highest level of UV protection to withstand Arizona’s intense sun. Each lid features a foam gasket for an airtight and watertight seal to the riser pipe.
Available in two sizes—18″ and 24″—septic tank risers cater to different tank models. Older systems from the 1970s to mid-1990s typically used 18″ risers for single-compartment tanks, while two-compartment tanks use 24″ risers. It’s crucial to install risers on both the inlet and outlet sides of two-compartment tanks to allow proper pumping access. At Circle J Septic, all new risers we install are 24″ in diameter.
One of the key benefits of risers on a two-compartment tank is the accessibility they provide to the effluent filter in the outlet baffle assembly. This filter plays a vital role in preventing solids from entering the disposal field and should be cleaned 1-2 times annually. Having risers in place makes accessing and servicing the filter much easier and more affordable compared to digging up the tank lid for each service.
Upgrading to septic tank risers streamlines maintenance, protects your landscaping, and saves on labor costs. It’s a smart, straightforward enhancement that keeps your septic system functioning smoothly.
